Blizzard GLBT Gaming Policy Questions

Terra Nova Response

I'm a bit surprised at this news that Blizzard is interpreting what appears to be a policy prohibiting discrimination into something that is clearly discriminating. Blizzard's inability to distinguish between creating a GLBT-friendly guild and the homophobic remarks that will inevitably come in general chat from immature players is mind boggling. In my own experience, at the very start of the World of Warcraft game, I found it puzzling why the word "gay" was lumped in with other, more vile language that was blocked by the filters set up in the game. The response I got back was a vague "well, it can be used offensively" which led me to believe they just didn't get it. Because I didn't have the patience to educate an entire company (not really sure if they even wanted to be educated), I dropped the issue. But now I may, as a long-time subscriber to their game, have to take Blizzard to task again over this issue.
