A Philosophy to Live Life By

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

hmmm. Sounds like something I might say ;) True all the same. I like the one about "... the last check I write to bounce," too.

That said, good living must be a balance between what you take and what you give back. As a hiker, a quote that is oft heard is "Take nothing but pictures, Leave nothing but footprints." It is essential to enjoy a strong joie de vive. Please appreciate that I'm not poo-pooing your observation because I fundamentally agree with it. All things in nature must balance their desire to live fully with the need to leave something for subsequent generations. When they do not, the result is the end of of your thread in the tapestry of existence.

You observation speaks to the fundamental nature of living and there are many ways to bark at the moon with our "barbarian YAWP!" Carpe diem :)
